THE CHARITY:
The Variety Club is dedicated to improving the lives of children and young people who need its help. It does this by raising funds for specialist minibuses, wheelchairs, sports equipment, hospital wards, and all sorts of other practical solutions that enable individuals, projects and organisations across the UK to give a wider ramge of opportunities to the children in their care.
Every day in the UK 70 children are born or diagnosed with a disability; this effects one in twenty children and heir families. Because it costs three times as much to raise a discabled child, many of them will find it harder to make ends meet, let alone fund the kind of specialist help their child needs to fund an independant life. THE EVENT:
Drive Fore Life is a fund-raising event for all golfers to help support The Variety Club through playing golf. With the support of Sandy Lyle we aim to raise £1 million - and you can help by getting involved and joining us at The Oxfordshire Golf Club on September 5th 2011.
There are three ways you can do this, either through qualifying at your local club, booking one of the Individual or Corporate packages available, or entering in to the 'Five Fore Life' prize draw.
The day includes a breakfast reception with Sandy, 18 holes of championship golf, Sandy's golf clinic, and a three course dinner. The evening event will also include a tribute to Sandy in recognition of his outstanding career achievements and his long-standing support of the Variety Club.
